EFCA
is the European Federation of
Concrete Admixtures Associations
EFCA was formed in 1984 as a partnership between National Admixture
Associations in order to promote the interests of the industry at
European level. See membership page for
details and web links to individual members.
EFCA Extranet
The EFCA Extranet has been activated and access provided to all EFCA National Representatives. The Extranet contains details forthcoming meetings, EFCA Promotional Presentations and Newsletters and records the activities of the various EFCA Committees and work done in co-operation with CEPMC and ECP. For access, please click on the EFCA Extranet Tab to the left.
EFCA Environmental Committee
The major activities of the EFCA Environmental Committee have been REACH and GHS. The EFCA EC REACH Task Force has worked closely with the German Association Deutsche Bauchemie on the development of a method for communicating User information to raw material suppliers for the creation of Exposure Scenarios for extended Safety Data Sheets required for hazardous substances. This has resulted in the publication of a series of User Report Tables (UseR) for the formulation and end use of admixtures http://info.vci.de/user_cc/default.aspx .
The EFCA EC is in the process of setting up a Task Force to look into the revision the current admixture Environmental Product Declarations to bring them in line with current developments of the CPR and CEN TC350.
An EFCA EC Biocides Task Force has been initiated to define the biocides and dosage range used by members in order to collect data (biodegradability, ecotox-data, PNEC-values) for the defined biocides with a view to producing a report based on new data to supplement existing work.
EFCA Technical Committee
The EFCA Technical Committee has completed work on the inclusion of Viscosity Modifying Admixtures (VMA) into EN 480 and EN 934. All relevant documentation has been submitted to the CEN TC104 SC3 Secretary. These have now been distributed to National Standards Organisations for voting.
The EFCA TC has agreed to poll its members and list possible admixtures which may be considered for future inclusion within EN 934.
The work of the EFCA TC on the classification of form/mould release agents has been terminated following the completion of the French MRA Classification by French Concrete Admixture Association SYNAD. Anyone interested in following the SYNAD approach to MRA Classification is asked to contact SYNAD directly.
European Concrete Platform
EFCA is a founding member of the European Concrete Platform. The ECP co-ordinates common activity on agreed concrete related issues at European level. Numerous documents relating to the Eurocodes, Energy Efficiency, Fire safety, Structural Codes and Sustainable Construction have been published. The key publications are available from the EFCA PUBLICATIONS page.
